Preguntas frecuentes

What should I check in cosmetics during pregnancy?

This is the time when it makes the most sense to check the label, because these are products that you apply daily over a large surface area of your skin. The groups usually recommended to be avoided are retinoids, some chemical sunscreen filters, and ingredients identified as potential endocrine disruptors. We tell you what to look for in safe cosmetics during pregnancy. If you have any specific concerns, consult your midwife or doctor.

Can I use sunscreen? I have developed spots

Not only can you, but it is probably the most important part of your routine during these months. Melasma or "mask of pregnancy" has a hormonal component, but the sun is the trigger that activates and darkens it, so daily protection is the best tool you have. Our sunscreens use non-nano zinc oxide as their only filter, with no chemical filters: facial and body. More context in skin spots: what they are and how to avoid them.

Can stretch marks be prevented?

Honestly: not entirely. They appear when the skin stretches faster than its elasticity can keep up with, and genetics and growth rate play a role here. What is in your hands is keeping the skin well-hydrated and elastic, which improves how it handles it and how it looks afterward. Our body oil and daily consistency are the practical part. We go into this in how to reduce stretch marks.

What about the skin on my body, which feels tight?

This is very common, especially on the abdomen and chest. Moisturize while your skin is still damp after showering, which is when it retains water best, and choose the texture based on what you need: lotion for daily use, oil if you feel it is very dry. You have the guidelines in how to take care of your skin during pregnancy.

My hair is falling out a lot after giving birth

This is postpartum effluvium and it is normal: during pregnancy, your hair barely falls out, and afterwards, everything that was waiting to fall out sheds all at once. It usually starts after two or three months and subsides on its own in a few more months. A strengthening shampoo like GROW is a good companion during this phase, without promising more than it can deliver. We explain this in how to reduce hair loss. If it is very excessive or if you notice bald patches, tell your doctor, because it is worth ruling out anemia or thyroid issues.

Can I use everything during breastfeeding?

In general, yes, with one common-sense precaution: avoid applying product to the chest area that will be in contact with the baby's mouth, and if you do, wash it off before feeding. For the rest of your body, follow the same guidelines as during pregnancy.

What about essential oils?

This is the question you ask us the most, and the answer is not a simple yes or no. Some essential oils are discouraged during pregnancy and others are not, and it depends on the oil, the concentration, and the trimester. In rinse-off cosmetics, such as shampoo or body wash, exposure is minimal; for a product that stays on the skin, it is better to look into it. If you have questions about a specific product, check its INCI with your midwife: we show you how to read it in how to read an INCI.

What should I prepare for when the baby is born?

Less than what they will try to sell you. With a gentle cleanser for bath time, an unscented body lotion, and a barrier cream for the diaper area, you will be set for the first few months: that is exactly what the baby line contains. Care guidelines can be found in how to properly take care of a baby's skin.
