Preguntas frecuentes
What is a tongue scraper for?
The tongue harbors a large portion of the mouth's bacteria, and that whitish layer that appears in the morning is the main cause of bad breath. A toothbrush doesn't remove it well: its bristles are too aggressive for the papillae and tend to spread it around rather than scrape it away. A tongue scraper does. We tell you all about it in the secret to a healthy mouth.
How and when should it be used?
In the morning, before brushing and on an empty stomach, which is when the layer is thickest. Stick out your tongue, place the scraper as far back as you can tolerate without gagging, and drag it outward with gentle pressure. Rinse it and repeat three or four times. Then, brush as usual. We explain this in this article.
Does it hurt or make you gag?
It shouldn't. If you gag, you are starting too far back: move it forward a couple of centimeters and gradually work your way back day by day. And if you feel stinging or see that your tongue is irritated, you are pressing too hard: it should be a gentle sweep, not a rough scrape.
Why use dental floss if I already brush my teeth?
Because a toothbrush only reaches three of the five sides of each tooth. The two remaining sides between the teeth can only be reached with floss, and that is precisely where most interproximal cavities and gum inflammation begin.
The floss breaks between my teeth
We are giving you an honest explanation because you've asked us: our floss is plant-based and plastic-free, which means it doesn't have the PTFE coating that makes conventional floss glide easily and resist breaking. It is slightly thicker and less slippery. Two tips that help: don't force it in, go down with a sawing motion, and keep it taut between your fingers. Even so, if you have very tight or crowded teeth, you will likely find it uncomfortable, and we prefer to tell you that before you buy it.
How much floss does it contain and are there refills?
30 meters, in a reusable container. When it runs out, you replace it with the refill and keep the container. It’s the difference between throwing away a plastic container every few months and throwing away none.
What is the order for everything?
Tongue scraper first, in the morning. Then dental floss, to dislodge what is between your teeth. And then brushing, to clear it all away. Doing it in reverse isn't a disaster, but this way is more effective.
What else is in the range?
