Natural, moisturizing and nourishing hair mask

What is a hair mask for? While conditioner makes daily detangling easier, a hair mask is an intensive treatment that repairs dry, damaged, or frizzy hair.

Our Velvet pre-wash mask is used differently than others: it is applied before shampooing, on dry hair. This way, it nourishes deeply, and then you wash your hair as usual.

How to use the Velvet hair mask:

  1. Apply it to dry hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends.
  2. Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Wash with your regular shampoo.

✔️ Stronger, softer, and shinier hair
✔️ Ideal for dry, curly, or damaged hair
✔️ Natural, organic, and vegan

Preguntas frecuentes

What is a hair mask used for?

To restore what the fiber has lost: lipids and proteins. Shampoo cleans and conditioner seals the outside, but when hair is dry, porous, or damaged, it needs a treatment that works inside the fiber. That is what a mask is for, which is why it is for occasional use, not daily.

Does Velvet go before or after shampoo?

Before, and this is what we are asked most often. Velvet is a pre-treatment: it is applied to dry hair, before washing it, not after like a conventional mask. If you use it at the end of your shower, it will feel thick and difficult to spread, and you won't notice the results. Applied correctly, you will notice the change.

How exactly is it applied?

On dry, detangled hair, from mid-lengths to ends, avoiding the roots. Spread well with your fingers, let it sit for the indicated time, and then wash your hair as normal. You can find the step-by-step guide at how to use a hair mask.

How often should it be used?

Once a week is enough in most cases, and up to twice if your hair is very damaged by bleaching, flat irons, or the sun. More won't speed anything up.

Mask or conditioner? Do I need both?

They don't do the same thing and aren't interchangeable. Conditioner is for frequent use and works on the surface, detangling and sealing; the mask is a deep, occasional treatment. If you are only going to have one, let it be the conditioner. We compare them at the difference between conditioner and hair mask.

Does it work against frizz?

It helps, and it's best to be honest about the scope. Frizz appears when a dehydrated fiber absorbs moisture from the environment, so the mask tackles the cause, but it is not a smoothing treatment nor does it have an immediate effect: it is noticeable with consistency and when accompanied by a non-drying shampoo. We elaborate on this at how to reduce hair frizz.

Is it good for hair after the summer?

It’s the perfect time for it. The sun, salt, and chlorine leave the fiber porous and brittle, and that is where a weekly treatment for a few weeks makes a difference. You can find the guidelines at how to repair hair after the summer.
