The skin is the largest organ in the body and also one of the most exposed, especially the face. Therefore, following an adequate facial routine is a necessity to keep it as well-cared for as possible. Now, is there a single ideal facial routine? The answer is no. Each skin is unique and needs specific care depending on its characteristics.
However, there is something all experts agree on: the most important thing is the ingredients in the products we apply to our skin. This is where natural cosmetics come into play. Compared to conventional products, which are made with toxic substances harmful to health, natural cosmetics offer a healthier, more effective, and body-friendly alternative.
Adopting a personalized facial routine with natural products is key to achieving healthy, balanced, and radiant skin in the long term.
Why choose natural cosmetics for the face?
Our skin absorbs everything we put on it, so everything we apply can penetrate the body. Many conventional formulas include parabens, silicones, or phthalates, compounds that, in addition to not treating the skin deeply, contain endocrine disruptors, which are chemical substances that can alter our hormonal balance.
Natural and organic cosmetics use ingredients of natural origin that nourish, regenerate, and respect our body, without side effects or negative long-term health impact. These products allow the skin to breathe, promoting cell regeneration and a visibly healthier and more radiant appearance.
The 6 essential steps of a skincare routine
Although starting to use natural cosmetic products improves your health by reducing the negative effects caused by toxic ingredients in conventional products, to obtain visible results it is important to follow a complete and consistent facial routine. These are the 6 key steps we recommend for an effective skincare routine:
Step 1: natural facial cleansing
Cleansing is the first and most important step of any facial routine. It helps remove impurities without damaging the skin barrier. At Banbu, we recommend using the Radiance solid facial cleanser, formulated with natural ingredients such as sunflower oil, mango butter, and pomegranate seed, which deeply cleanse while nourishing and protecting the skin. In addition, this cleanser is ideal for all skin types. This step is key to removing pollution from our face without harming it or altering its natural protective barrier.
Step 2: exfoliate the skin
Exfoliating the skin helps remove dead cells, regulate excess sebum, and get rid of dirt on the face. Our Grace solid facial exfoliant, formulated with olive seed powder and castor oil, promotes cell regeneration and respectful exfoliation that leaves the skin soft, radiant, and renewed.
The recommended frequency for this step is once a week for sensitive or dry skin and up to three times for oily skin.
Step 3: facial toner application
After deeply cleansing the skin with the cleanser and exfoliant, toner is necessary to close pores, balance pH, and prepare the skin for subsequent treatments.
Depending on whether your skin is oily or sensitive, your toner will be different. If your skin is oily, Banbu recommends using Refresh. If, on the other hand, it is sensitive or dry, Revive will be your allied toner in your routine. Both are formulated exclusively with ingredients that benefit your health, calm, tone, and rehydrate the skin.
Step 4: Serum and eye contour
After the toner, apply a serum adapted to your needs: hydration, radiance, firmness, or repair. At Banbu, we have different options with natural active ingredients that revitalize the skin and care for it.
In addition to the serum, we recommend completing this step by applying eye contour to finish treating one of the most sensitive and fragile areas of the skin. With benefits such as eliminating dark circles and reducing puffiness or firming the eyelids, using our Halo eye contour has become an essential part of the routine.
Step 5: Facial massage and exercises
To multiply the effects of your natural cosmetics, this is the perfect time to pamper your facial muscles. Just as you exercise your body, your face also needs to release tension and tone up.
-
Facial Yoga: Doing exercises and stretches with your own hands helps tone sagging muscles, oxygenate tissues, and smooth expression lines. We teach you in our workshops in Barcelona, Bilbao or Donosti.
-
The Amethyst Roller: Use it (ideally cold) by gliding it with upward movements from the center of the face outwards. It is perfect for draining fluid retention, deflating morning puffiness, and activating microcirculation, helping the active ingredients of your serum penetrate better.
-
The Gua Sha stone of amethyst or rose quartz: This oriental tool sculpts and defines features (like cheekbones and jawline) through a light but firm pressure massage. Always perform upward movements to release fascia, relax the jaw, and promote a natural lifting effect.
Step 6: Facial hydration
Facial hydration is crucial to keep the skin flexible, protected, and to seal in moisture. There are various types, but it is recommended to opt for creams with light textures if you have oily skin and dense and nourishing ones if you have dry skin.
Step 7: Sun Protection
Many people forget this step when performing their routines, but it is the secret to fully protecting the skin. Solar radiation acts even in winter or with cloudy skies, so it is essential to protect our face with a protector. By using it, we will prevent the appearance of spots and sun damage to the skin. At Banbu, there are two sun protection options, one with color and one without color, but both create a physical barrier that protects the skin from the sun.
When should this routine be performed?
This question largely depends on the needs of our skin. In general, the ideal is to follow these steps twice every day, once in the morning and once at night. If you cannot follow all the steps on both occasions, the most important thing is to make sure you cleanse and moisturize your skin at least once a day.
Remember that a proper skincare routine is not only a way to care for your face, it is also a way of showing respect for your body, which will find greater well-being. Using natural cosmetic products is key to taking care of yourself without compromising your health.
